Day 4 First full day in Auckland
Today the weather was a mix of cloud and sun with a high of 27C.
Our first day was spent in the CBD, Central business district. First stop…the Sky Tower. Much like the CN tower in TO. It gives you a beautiful panoramic view of the city. You have the option to be tethered on and walk outside around the parameter and/or body tethered jump from the 60th floor if you choose to spend an extra $250 for each thrill! We declined that and payed $65 for the two of us to go up to look down and see a beautiful view.

We figured out the city bus system and got passes to use..it’s a great way to get around when you don’t have a car.
New Zealand is famous for meat pies and we enjoyed one of their famous meat pies for lunch! Delicious!

We checked out the local “Woolworths”, which is a supermarket chain in New Zealand. LOL! Great supermarket….needed to use the bathroom and buy water! It was sunny and a warm 27 degrees. After lunch we made our way up to Mt Eden….famous dormant volcano within the city of Auckland, again giving you a great panoramic view of the city and harbour. Beautiful. This was a hike! Like walking up to signal hill. We hopped a bus for most of the way, but then walked to the summit from the base. Gale somehow managed to loose her bus pass and had left her sun hat on the bus! There was no where to buy another pass for the bus from where we were and they don’t take cash or credit card on the bus…only the pass card. Gale explained to the bus driver that she lost her pass, so the kind kiwi bus driver gave her a ride for free!!
For the evening meal we went to a pub/restaurant called “The Shakespeare - the oldest brew pub in the city.” It even had an old grand staircase with large wooden handrail. Quotes from Shakespeare and pictures all over the place. We had the nights special, lamb shank, two sizeable shanks in each of our dishes with trimmings of vegetables and mashed potatoes. Delicious!! Topped with a local tap pour of brew.
