Day 9 Drive to Rotorua - Redwoods Tree Walk

Today the weather was very pleasant.  We left Mount Maunganui  today and drove to Rotorua.  The Rotorua area is  known for its’ geothermal characteristics, having many areas of geysers and boiling mud pools with a smell of sulphur.  The area is a tourist hub for various activities.  It also has a strong Maori history.

After arriving in Rotorua we went on a prebooked Redwoods Tree Walk.  They have a redwoods forest near Rotorua.  It is similar to the redwoods forests in California.  These trees are 75m tall.  The tree walk takes you along 28 swing bridges that are 20m high among the redwoods.
