Dunedin - Golf + Farmers Market, Otago Museum ! (Day 32)
We had one full day in Dunedin so we tried to make the most of it. In the morning we had another walk around Dunedin, visiting the historic train station and a nearby farmer’s market and the Otago Settler’s Museum, which was very impressive.
Then after lunch we took a drive to the outskirts of Dunedin to visit a golf course and see if there were any tee times available.
We found a very friendly pro-shop staff at Chisholm Links Golf Course, where we decided to play a round of golf. It is a links style golf course, nearby the sea, with great views of nearby beaches. The course was built in the 1930s and has hosted the New Zealand Amateur Championship and three Australasian PGA Tour events. The pro gave us some great sets of clubs for our rentals and we were off to play a round. The course is fairly open with rolling hills, grassy dunes and some tree lined areas. It was a very enjoyable round, especially when we came upon the sea view holes! Spectacular!
Our round ended, luckily, just before it started to rain!
We made our way back into Dunedin centre and finished the day with a fantastic meal of Indo Nepalese food at the Mela Eatery by The Octagon, a short walk from our motel.
Ok, so we will mix up the order here, to put the most important things first - golf - food - other places !
